Help!! We've got too many mushrooms! The logs have been going crazy this spring. Restaurant sales have been kind of slow leaving me with 12-15 pounds available now. Please call me, Rae West at 608-205-7079 to arrange pickup or drop off. Buy 5 pounds or more for $10 per pound. They are beautiful mushrooms that you'll love!
Getting some nice shiitake and oysters this year but harvests have been very small mostly due to the weird weather. Very dry all year with early Spring 20 degrees below normal and later 20 degrees above. Doing little force fruiting since my larger customers are not buying much so I do have lots of dehydrated vacuum sealed available for sale. Let me know!
Mushroom inoculation workshops will be held on May 21st and May 28th from 9am until about noon at our farm at 1053 Taylor Lane Stoughton, WI 53589.
Tours will be given of our small farm, and we’ll enjoy conversations and snacks with fellow mushroom enthusiasts. You may take home your own Shiitake logs to nurture at a reduced volunteer rate.
Please send an email to: PaulRaeWest@chickenhollow.com with your name and names of others coming in your party, the date you plan to attend and any questions. RSVP ASAP! Rae West – 608-205-7079

Our last inoculation of the year is being held this Saturday 6/4/22 from 9am until about noon. Come and get to know other mushroom nuts. Have fun, learn a lot and a leave with some from shiitake mushrooms. Please let me know via email at PaulRaeWest@Chickenhollow.com if you'd like to attend.
We hope you will be able to come to one of our mushroom inoculation workshops on May 8th, May 15th or May 22nd. We will also give a tour of our small farm, have a bite to eat and enjoy conversations with wonderful people interested in sustainability and mushrooms. West Mushrooms is small hobby farm operation, so we rely on our volunteers to help us with the inoculation process. We love sharing our knowledge of the stages of log grown mushroom production and hope our passion for growing mushrooms will ignite yours.
Everyone will have a chance to learn and rotate through each workstation and gain some insight into what it takes to grow log-grown Shiitake and other mushrooms. This is a hands-on event so dress for the weather and for working. We need to plan since we have limited space and will provide lunch so when you select your date please be committed to attend.
After the event, if you choose to take home your own Shiitake logs to nurture, you will be able to purchase a few at a reduced volunteer rate. Remember this is a living organism so you are adopting a living mycelium nursery to care and nurture for about a year before you even see a mushroom.
